As some of you may have noticed this is not your normal website where you can simply make posts and expect people to believe who is on the other end of a screen name. The reoccurring theme here is credibility. We will not have anyone hide behind some arbitrary screen name and make false claims!
The main goal of Global Spear to provide credibility to not only what is being said, but also who is saying it. To achieve this there are several measures we have taken to vet who is posting and their credentials.
Everyone that registers to GlobalSpear will be afforded the opportunity to join in discussions about virtually anything. However, do not expect some to take you very serious if claiming to be a “tactics expert” and yet you never served in the Military or LEO. Even then unless you fulfilled certain jobs or positions you may not be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) you think you are. With GlobalSpear, we will make sure that if someone is claiming to be something, they are really are that.
Now do not get discouraged of you were not some high speed SWAT instructor or some Special Forces operator. Those types of people are SMEs, but only in certain areas. At Global Spear we are looking for all kinds of SMEs. First and foremost be proud of whatever you did or do for a living, secondly there is a good possibility you are a SME at what you do. For example, if there is a question related to food hygiene in austere environments, we will lean on the people that are cooks. At that point, they become the SME and now have the ability to help others. Another example is say you are a carpenter or plumber. We really want to know this, this way the community can look to you for questions about general contracting or things of that nature.
This brings us to the fact that everyone here will become a “Registered Member”. But for those of you who want to take the next step, we will ask that you simply take the time and become vetted. By becoming vetted, you will be identified as a “Confirmed Member”. This process is very quick and very discreet. Only possibly 3 or 4 people will ever see any personal information along the vetting process, all of which will be destroyed upon completion. It may be as easy a quick phone call to verify some information and continue you on your way here. An alternative to this will be if you do know a member here that has been vetted. If they are willing to vouch for you and it can be substantiated, it is an instant process.
While filling in your profile when you join, you will be asked for some personal information. I assure you that no one but the Site Administrator will ever see that information. It is your choice to either fill it in or leave it blank, but do not ever expect to become vetted with a bogus profile. Now for the select few out there that have jobs where personal information is sensitive, the staff here can take care of that as well. I guarantee that between the core staff, there is nothing cannot understand and overcome.
You may choose whatever screen name you desire, that is all the public will ever see about you. You also have the option when you edit your profile to hide most information from the general public. But by having a “Confirmed Member” title, people will instantly know that regardless of your screen name you have the credentials to be talking about certain topics.
As a added bonus for the "confirmed members", you will be afforded a private forum for discussions as well as possibly promotional deals from vendors.
